Your educators keep the room safe during the day. We come in after the last parent leaves and do the work there is no time for between snack and nap.

Child care in Burlington takes many forms. There are small licensed programs in plaza units along Appleby Line and Walkers Line, purpose-built centres in Alton Village and Orchard, Montessori schools serving families from Millcroft to Aldershot, and before- and after-school programs that share space with a school or a church hall. Each has a different layout, and each gets its own written scope.

Who does what

In Ontario, licensed child care centres are licensed by the Ministry of Education and inspected by the local public health unit. In Burlington, that is Halton Region Public Health. The sanitizing routines your licence requires during program hours, such as wiping tables after meals and cleaning change tables between children, stay with your staff. That is not something to hand to an outside crew.

What we take over is the after-hours deep clean. That means floors, fixtures, the lower half of every wall, the toy rotation, and the corners that slowly get missed when educators are doing it on top of a full day. When the room opens at seven, it is clean and staff can focus on the children.

A typical evening, in order

  1. Kitchen and servery first, while the rest of the centre is still being tidied. Counters, sinks, appliance fronts, the floor and the area around the high chairs. Food-contact surfaces are finished the way the product label requires.
  2. Washrooms and change areas. Child-height toilets and sinks, change tables, diaper pails, the floor and the wall behind each fixture. Disinfectant stays wet for its full label contact time. It is never sprayed and wiped straight off.
  3. Playrooms and classrooms. Tables, chairs, shelving, cubbies, window ledges, door handles, and walls and doors from the floor up to about a metre, where small hands actually reach.
  4. Toys. Hard plastic toys and manipulatives are sanitized on a rotation set with your supervisor. Soft toys and dress-up clothes are set aside for laundering, not wiped.
  5. Nap rooms. Cots and mats wiped, floors cleaned under and between them, ledges and vents dusted.
  6. Entrance and cloakroom last. Boot trays, mats, glass at child height and the stroller area. This takes more time from November to March, when salted slush from the parking lot comes in on every pair of boots.

Montessori classrooms

A Montessori room is set up on purpose. Every material has a place on the shelf, and teachers depend on that order. Many practical-life and sensorial materials are wood, cloth, metal or glass, and harsh disinfectants or a wet cloth will damage them.

Products, paperwork and safety

When illness goes through a room

A stomach bug or a bad cold season can move through a toddler room in days. When that happens, most centres want extra disinfection of washrooms, touch points and toys for a week or two, sometimes with a mid-day visit. We add those as separate visits at short notice and drop them when things settle. Your regular contract does not change. If Halton Region Public Health gives your centre specific instructions during an outbreak, we follow them.

Related services

Centres that share a building with offices or a clinic sometimes combine contracts with office cleaning or medical and dental cleaning. Opening a new location? Book a post-construction cleanup before your licensing inspection.

For typical monthly ranges, see the Burlington cleaning cost guide. To get a written scope, book a walk-through after closing, when we can see the rooms as they really are at the end of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you replace the cleaning our staff do during the day?

No. The daytime sanitizing routines your licence requires stay with your staff. We do the deeper after-hours clean, so they start each morning in a room that is already done.

What products do you use around the children?

Fragrance-free, low-residue products by default. Safety data sheets for every product are kept on site, and your supervisor approves the list before we start. Disinfectant is used only where it is needed, with the full label contact time.

Will you rearrange our Montessori shelves?

No. Materials stay exactly where they are and we clean around them. Wood is wiped with a barely damp cloth and never soaked, and anything that needs washing is set aside for your staff.

Can you come more often during an outbreak?

Yes. Extra visits for washrooms, touch points and toys can be added at short notice for as long as you need them. They are billed separately and your regular contract stays the same.
